Blur Motion |
|
This video illustrates how showing motion in a fixed image makes a big difference to the final image - creativity and impact. And it isn't so difficult with a bit of experimentation. A great range of illustrations in the talk by Alex Kilbee from portraits to wildlife

The value of a polariser. Helpful info on using a polariser - and the positive effect it can have that cant be replicated in post processing.

Intentional Camera Movement |
|
This not the usual ICM approach but an interesting offshoot - mixing ICM with more traditional still camera exposures. And it also shows what creativity can be undertaken at home.

ISO |

Keep it at the lowest setting is a "rule" - but always? Really interesting video questioning this rule and illustrating when it is better to raise your ISO for a higher quality image and less noise.
The TRUTH about shooting at ISO 100 that the PROS know. |
Histogram |
|
The histogram is said by some to be the most useful feature in our cameras but very underused.
All cameras can show the histogram on the LCD screen when reviewing images and mirrorless cameras in addition can also show it in the viewfinder before you take the image (so helpful to get the exposure right). |

Long Exposure |
|
Long exposure is an easy way of bringing some creativity to images - and avoiding that cruel judge's comment of "just a record shot". Ian starts by showing how it can be done without extra filters; though for really long exposure Neutral Density (ND) filters are usually needed. Just need something moving - clouds, water, people, cars, and then experimenting with exposure length to show the amount of movement needed.
