Preparing Images For Projected Competitions
Preparing your digital images
Your pictures should be jpegs (jpgs) sized to not more than 1920 pixels wide by not more than 1080 pixels high and should use the sRGB colour space. If you do not understand this then do please ask for help in the group’s Facebook page or via our Contact Us page.
A simple method of getting to the right size is to first resize to a height of 1080 pixels. This will usually result in a width that is 1920 pixels or less, in which case you'll have met the resolution requirement. In the unlikely case that the resultant width is more than 1920 pixels, then undo the resizing and instead, resize to a width of 1920 pixels. That's it for resizing.
If you prefer to do it in one go without the potential trial and error of the above method, then there is a calculator here that effectively implements the above algorithm and will tell you exactly what size to make your image.
After resizing your image, please check that the file size is not more than 2 Mbytes. If it is, please re-save your file using slightly more image compression or a slightly lower quality setting. Quality setting 10 in Photoshop will usually achieve the required result. In Lightroom, a maximum file size of 2 MBytes (2000 kBytes) can be set during the export process.
Submitting your digital images
The club uses a cloud-based online image submission system located at https://success.clubsoftware.org/. Please submit your pictures via this website during the weekend before the Tuesday competition, ideally no later than 6 pm on the Sunday preceding the Tuesday of the competition.
Each picture submitted (usually a maximum of three) should have a unique title. Competition numbers are not needed for digital image submissions.
