Preparing Prints for Competitions

Just print out some pictures, put each one on a separate mount board and bring them along.  Your prints can be made from conventional film or digital images.

Please arrive early with your prints so that we can set them up in the room ready for a prompt start at 8pm.  There is mountboard and spray adhesive in the club’s darkroom if you want to arrive early and prepare them just before the competition starts.

To prepare your prints:

  • Use photographic paper of any finish, matt or glossy.
  • You can use your own printer at home, process your prints chemically in a darkroom, or have them professionally printed.  SnappySnaps in Ealing is a good place to start or you can try www.photobox.co.uk
  • Choose a decent size for viewing on the easel at the front of the room – we suggest the longest edge of your print is a minimum of 8 inches.
  • Mount your print on mount board – 40cm x 50cm is a good size.
  • Write your ‘competition number’ on the back of the mount together with your name and the title.  If you are not sure about your competition number then please mail or message our Competition Secretary who also would be very grateful to hear of your entries in advance to help with the score-keeping.
