Preparing Digital Images for Competitions

To enter a digital competition, you must upload your photos to https://compent.photoentry.uk/compent/. by midnight on the Sunday before the Tuesday of the competition.

Your pictures should be:

  • jpegs (jpgs)
  • Not more than 1920 pixels wide or 1080 pixels high
  • No more than 10 MB for the file size.
  • Using the sRGB colour space

Popular picture-editing software such as Adobe’s Lightroom or Photos on Macs or Windows will allow you to set your dimensions easily. You can control the file size by tweaking the image compression or quality.

First Time?

When you first join the club then once we have your email address, we will set you up on our photo entry system and you will receive an automated email telling you how to log on and change your password.  You do not need any other competition numbers for digital entries, but you will need a title for each picture. When you enter the title, that is what will appear on the screen in front of the judge, no-one will alter it or correct it so watch out for typos, capitalisation and spelling mistakes. In particular, look at the list of allowed special characters just above the title entry box. If you use any special character in your title that is not in this list then you will not be able to upload your photo. The “?” is one that is not allowed and often causes problems. If you really can’t think of a title, you can call it ‘Untitled 1’ and so on, but that will get a bit dull.
