Competition Rules & Regulations
Monthly Competition Rules (Open & Set Subject)
Maurice Hearsay Memorial Trophy
**ALL AWARDS WILL BE PRESENTED AT THE CLUB’S
CHRISTMAS SOCIAL EVENING**
- MEMBERS MORE THAN ONE MONTH IN ARREARS WITH THE MEMBERSHIP WILL BE DENIED ENTRY INTO ANY NORTHFIELDS CAMERA CLUB COMPETITION.
- ONCE THE COMPETITION HAS STARTED NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.
- Each member has been allocated 2 numbers (see membership card), each print submitted into a competition must have one of these numbers on the reverse of the mount.
- Please try and submit your entries a WEEK BEFORE the competition.
- Frank, Eric or John will accept prints throughout the week before the competition by prior agreement failing that Prints MUST be submitted by 7.45pm on the night.
**NO PRINTS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS TIME**
- Prints MUST be mounted for ALL competitions, by the Photographer with either shop bought mounts or home produced mounts. Prints must NOT be trade mounted
- Prints MUST have the Authors name, Allocated number (see membership card & Date of Entry on the BACK before submission.
- EXCEPT for the Northfields Challenge Cup ALL prints submitted MUST be a minimum of 7”x5”.
- For Inter & Outer Club Competitions Rules May VARY and photographers will be informed.
Monthly (Open & Set Subject) Competition rules
OPEN TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE NORTHFIELDS CAMERA CLUB
- Each member may enter a maximum of TWO prints per monthly competition.
- The photographs will be awarded points out of 20.
- Prints MUST be Titled on the Front or Back. Any print not titled will be refused entry into the competition.
- Colour or Black & White prints are acceptable
- Prints taken with either FILM or DIGITALLY are accepted.
- Digital manipulation is accepted UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED.
- Prints may be Home or Trade Processed.
- To be judged by an outside judge.
- ALL prints entered into a monthly competition are eligible for The Print Of The Year competition held in November.
- To decide “The Photographer Of The Year” the highest score of each photographer from the monthly competitions will be taken and accumulated throughout the year. The Photographer with the highest score will be awarded Photographer Of The Year. In the event of a tie, the photographer with the most, highest scores will be awarded Photographer Of The Year.
- Prints are free from restriction in terms of age, provided they have not scored points in previous monthly club competitions within the current year.
- Prints may be entered again BUT NOT IN THE SAME YEAR, provided that noticeable alterations have been made since they were first submitted.
- Authors may be required to submit the original print to the committee in the event of an objection being raised in regards to whether the print has noticeably changed.
Trophy Competitions
There are 4 trophy competitions held throughout the year
NORTHFIELDS CHALLENGE CUP 6h April 2010
SET SUBJECT:-
OPEN TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE NORTHFIELDS CAMERA CLUB
NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE PRINT OF THE YEAR COMPETITION.
SCORES DO NOT COUNT TOWARDS THE PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR.
- 6 Prints Each 6”x4”in size.
- All prints mounted on ONE BLACK mount only by the Photographer with either shop bought mounts or home produced mounts.
- Prints MUST be in COLOUR.
- Prints can be Home or Trade Processed.
- To be judged by an outside judge.
- Certificates awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd for display on the reverse of the mount.
- Highly Commended certificates will be awarded at the judge’s discretion.
- Unlike other competitions the photographer’s name is NOT to be entered on the reverse of the mount, only the date of entry, the photographers allocated number and the competitions name.
- Titles are NOT accepted.
The Maurice Hearsay Memorial Trophy – 23rd March 2010
BLACK &WHITE PRINTS ANY SUBJECT
OPEN TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE NORTHFIELDS CAMERA CLUB
NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE PRINT OF THE YEAR COMPETITION.
SCORES DO NOT COUNT TOWARDS THE PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR.
- Each member may enter a maximum of TWO prints.
- Prints entered are free from restriction of age provided they have NOT been placed in previous MHMT competitions.
- Prints that have NOT gained any placings (1st, 2nd, 3rd or Highly Commended) may be resubmitted in future MHMT competitions providing that noticeable alterations have been made.
- Authors may be required to submit the original print to the committee in the event of an objection being raised in regards to whether the print has noticeably changed.
- The competition takes place in October of each year, and will alternate between colour only prints and Black and white only prints.
**BLACK AND WHITE ONLY PRINTS FOR 2010**
- Prints entered into MHMT are NOT eligible for the BHMT in the same year.
- Prints can be Home or Trade Processed.
- To be judged by an outside judge.
- Certificates awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd for display on the reverse of the mount.
- Highly Commended certificates will be awarded at the judge’s discretion.
- Titles are at the discretion of the author.
The Bob Howard Memorial Trophy 26th October 2010
OPEN TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE NORTHFIELDS CAMERA CLUB
NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE PRINT OF THE YEAR COMPETITION.
SCORES DO NOT COUNT TOWARDS THE PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR.
- Each member may enter a maximum of TWO prints.
- This Competition is a PORTRAIT competition open to colour or black and white prints.
- Prints entered are free from restriction of age provided they have NOT been placed in previous BHMT competitions.
- Prints that have NOT gained any placings (1st, 2nd, 3rd or Highly Commended) may be resubmitted in future MHMT competitions providing that noticeable alterations have been made.
- Authors may be required to submit the original print to the committee in the event of an objection being raised in regards to whether the print has noticeably changed.
- The competition takes place in October of each year.
- Prints entered into BHMT are NOT eligible for the MHMT in the same year.
- Prints can be Home or Trade Processed.
- To be judged by an outside judge.
- Certificates awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd for display on the reverse of the mount.
- Highly Commended certificates will be awarded at the judge’s discretion.
- Titles are at the discretion of the author.
Print Of The Year 7th December 2010
- Open to ANY print that has scored points in a MONTHLY competition throughout 2009, not necessarily the scoring the highest points.
- The prints are chosen by the photographer.
- As with ALL competitions a maximum of 2 prints per author can be submitted.
- To be judged by an outside judge.
- Certificates awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd for display on the reverse of the mount.
- Highly Commended certificates will be awarded at the judge’s discretion.
- Prints from the Bob Howard and Maurice Hearsay Memorial Trophy and Northfields Challenge Cup Competitions are EXCLUDED from the Print Of The Year Competition.
- Prints MUST have the Authors name, Allocated number (see membership card) Date of Entry and Title on the BACK before submission.
