Ealing And Hampshire House Interclub Competition

On the 18th of May the Club hosted Ealing and Hampshire House for an inter-club competition. It was a pleasure to host EHH and we were very pleased with the turn out, with a full house in attendance. The evening was judged by Chris Anderson and EHH deservedly won. We were pleased that the difference between scores was a mere 23 points and an improvement from last year. Our twenty submissions came from a variety of 10 authors. We unfortunately didn’t score any twenties but were very pleased with the five 18s and four 19s that were awarded. Particular congratulations to John Oxborrow, Paul Reynolds & Sandra Costeja-Bos (who scored two 19s) for their high scoring images.

We are back after our summer holidays. Our first evening back was our first competition night, and again our members delivered with some wonderful photos.

Our next competition is the set subject of Nightlife on the 5th October. Please submit your entries early. Our judge will be Kevin Day. The same evening is also our first round for this years Rosebowl Competition too. Good Luck to everyone who has submitted photographs in either competition.

Rosebowl 2010-2011 Round 1 @ Maidenhead

It’s Rosebowl season again and the first round saw us visiting Maidenhead on Tuesday, 5th October 2010. We were competing against the hosts, Wycombe & Chesham. We submitted a broad variety of images from natural history, abstract, portraits, landscape, macro & architecture. We came fourth which although unfortunate was only 29 points behind the winning club, Wycombe.  When we consider the size of our club we are still very proud to have scored 240 marks. Our strongest images on the night were ‘Brighton Rocks’ by Olivia Bailey-Rotman (score: 20) and ‘Harbour Boats’ by Paul Reynolds (score: 19). Onwards and upwards! The next round sees us visiting Kidlington on the 6th December 2010.

                             AGM 30th November 2010

Please attend our Annual General Meeting on 30th November 2010, at 8pm.

As always all the committee places are available if anyone would like to be nominated for a place. Please email chairman@northfieldscameraclub.org.uk if you are interested.

Click Here for the Agenda of the meeting.

Please note that both John Oxborrow (Chairman) and Paula Kirby (Treasurer) will be standing down at the AGM. We would like to thank both for what they have done for the club and wish them well in the future. John is staying at the club but Paula is moving away and we wish her all the best and hope she will visit from time to time :-)

The 2010/2011 Rosebowl competition’s first round was held at Maidenhead on Tuesday, 5th October 2010. We competed against the hosts, Wycombe and Chesham, and Terry Coffey judged on the night. We came 29 points (and in fourth place) behind the winning club Wycombe. Well done to Olivia Bailey-Rotman for scoring 20 with ‘Brighton Rocks’ and Paul Reynolds who scored 19 with ‘Harbour Boats’.

The second round of the Rosebowl was held on Monday, 6th December at Kidlington. We competed against the hosts, Henley and Hemel Hempstead. Again we came fourth but this time only 21 points behinds the winners, Kidlington. Unfortunately none of the club members were able to attend so we missed out on hearing any of the feedback. Congratulations to Sandra Costeja-Bos (Against the Brick Wall), Isabel de Abreu (Trees in the Sand) and Paul Reynolds (Harbour Boats & Waiting for a Train) for scoring 18s.

We look forward to Round 3 at Stokenchurch in February 2011!

Rosebowl First Round 2nd November

We came in at 246 against Leighton Buzzard (259), Field End (265) and the winners, Wallingford (268). As with every year we should be very proud of what we achieve considering the size of our membership and the small pool of images we have to choose from. We heard one lady saying their club has 100 members...!

Unfortunately we didn't get any 19s or 20s but scored some good, solid 18s with:

Audrey - Margot

The Young Lady - John

Rope & Iron - Paul

Malay Quarter, Cape Town - Jean

Leap Frog - Olivia

Well done to all!!
